High efficiency CONSTANT WATTAGE TRANSFORMERS are manufactured in Banbury and are suitable for running lamps up to 35kW. Amba will work with equipment manufacturers to produce units tailored to meet specific needs and will even make individual units to replace old or inefficient equipment. Heraeus Amba transformers are supplied complete with the capacitor sets and wiring diagrams needed to install.

The advantage of constant wattage supplies over choke/ignitor systems is that for a given power the UV lamp current can be reduced which increases the UV lamp life.

Constant wattage transformers have several benefits when compared to other types of step-up supplies:

  1. Operate over a wide range of supply voltages
  2. Can run at 50 or 60Hz with only minor circuit modifications
  3. Good current control at start-up puts less stress on the UV lamp
  4. Easy configuration of power settings
  5. No power factor correction required
  6. Physical sizes can be tailored to suit customer requirements
